SIGH Frontman Comments On Upcoming 'Global Metal' Documentary

Mirai Kawashima, frontman for Japanese black metal act SIGH, has issued a statement about the band's involvement in the upcoming documentary "Global Metal", Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn's follow-up to 2005's critically-acclaimed documentary "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey".

The band's song "Me Devil" off 2007's "Hangman's Hymn" is played prominently in the movie's trailer (which can be viewed below),and will be featured on the soundtrack to coincide with the movie's release.

Says Kawashima, "It's a great honor to be featured in the film as we enjoyed 'A Headbanger's Journey' a lot. We do hope this documentary will be a trigger to help spread the Eastern plague and terror some more!"

In "Global Metal", directors Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn set out to discover the impact of heavy metal on the world's cultures beyond Europe and North America. The film follows metal fan and anthropologist Sam Dunn on a whirlwind journey through Asia, South America and the Middle East as he explores the underbelly of the world's emerging extreme music scenes from Indonesian death metal to Chinese black metal to Iranian thrash metal. "Global Metal" reveals a worldwide community of metalheads who aren't just absorbing metal from the West they're transforming it, creating a new form of cultural expression in societies dominated by conflict, corruption and mass consumption.

"Global Metal" is expected to hit theaters later this year.
